Bhubaneswar, June 24: A six-inch-long pair of forceps was found in the abdomen of a woman in Orissa, apparently left behind by doctors during an operation two years ago.
Kanchana Bhoi, 35, a resident of Moujapur in the coastal district of Cuttack, 45 km from here, was operated for kidney stones in 2005 at the Sriram Chandra Bhanja Medical College hospital in Cuttack. After the operation, she continued to complain of severe pain in her abdomen. She approached the government hospital at Adaspur near Moujapur for treatment.
"We advised her to go for an X-ray on June 22 which showed that she had a pair of forceps in her abdomen," Dhuleswar Pradhan, a doctor, said. "The doctors might have left the forceps in her abdomen when they operated her.
